My Story #BlackHistoryMonth

Updated: Oct 15, 2020

In our our current events blog this month my quote is

“We need to write, shape and tell our own history. We do not need to leave it in the hands of others”

Black History In Stockport - A research into the undocumented heritage of #African and #Caribbean people in Stockport by exploring untold stories and oral histories from African, and Caribbean descent living or born in #Stockport. Acknowledging unsung heroes /sheroes, telling the story of how they arrived, the contributions they made in the arts, education, sports, science and technology, their communities, and what life was like in the 1940s to present day.

Back in June I spent the afternoon being interviewed and filmed in the gallery space at #VernonMill for this important heritage project.

The the launch exhibition event is on 1st October online. Booking details here https://lnkd.in/d7wzqnT

It was honour to be asked by Solomon Onaolapo, Aba Graham and the heritage project team including The University of Manchester Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Resource Centre which is one of Europe's leading specialist libraries on #migration, #race and #ethnicity.
